Guiding Light

When you want what’s inside of you more than what’s outside of you, you will have it all. ~Alan Cohen

I appreciate this succinct insight from Alan Cohen. When you want what is inside of you more than what is outside of you, the subtle signals you pick up – the emotional weather, the pauses, the inconsistencies, the unspoken needs – stop pulling you off center. Instead of being driven to resolve, soothe, or strategize around every external disturbance, you begin to anchor in your own clarity, integrity, and peace. The unseen currents are still there, but they no longer dictate your direction. Wanting what is inside more than what’s outside means valuing your inner steadiness over approval, outcomes, or the urge to manage other people’s emotional states. This paradoxically, is what allows you to ‘have it all’. Not by controlling circumstances, but by no longer abandoning yourself to them.
